Families looking for something creative to do during the summer holidays can now explore the new Summer of Colour Trail at Chichester Cathedral.

Running from 10 July to 4 September, the free family trail invites children and their grown-ups to discover colour, creativity and hidden details throughout one of Chichester's most iconic buildings. Inspired by the Cathedral's famous John Piper tapestry, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, the trail takes visitors on a colourful journey through six locations around the Cathedral.

There is no set route to follow, allowing families to explore at their own pace. Along the way, young visitors can follow Wilfrid the Seal, a much-loved Cathedral character, while learning about the colours, artwork and history found throughout the building.

The experience also includes a variety of drop-in creative activities, including collaborative weaving, stained glass-inspired crafts and colouring activities designed especially for the trail. Families are encouraged to return throughout the summer to see how the community artwork grows and evolves.

With free entry and plenty to discover, it offers a great option for families looking to combine creativity, history and exploration during the school holidays.
